Falsely claiming membership and/or unauthorised use of the Independent Property Managers’ Association (IPMA) registered trademarked logo on marketing material is a criminal offence with penalties that include imprisonment for a term of up to five years or a fine of up to $150,000. When the IPMA becomes aware of such an infringement immediate legal action is taken and offenders are listed on this website.

IPMA only for Property Managers

The IPMA is a professional association concerned with improving the standard of rental property management in New Zealand, including political lobbying on behalf of individuals/companies who manage rental property. The constitution of the IPMA does not encompass financial or investment advice aspects that some firms add onto their core property management businesses. If financial or investment advising is an intended part of your business, you should seek independent legal advice to ascertain whether or not you need to be registered as a financial advisor as required under the Financial Advisers Act (2008).

Can I Apply for Membership to the IPMA?

Membership to the Independent Property Managers' Association is open to all non-REINZ property managers in New Zealand. A Property Manager is defined as any person or organization carrying on the business of real property management, of properties other than their own, for reward.

If this is you, then we welcome your application for membership.
